The training on Sunday….

went well despite the rain. We went through the different  moments we have been practising individually.

Heel walk: I need to get her more energized in the start. It changed a lot when I encouraged her before we started. I took a left turn everytime I could choose, which is much more difficult in the beginning, I don’t know why!! So now left turns!! Otherwise she is super good!

Call in: Very good and fast, though she has a tendency to tuch me when she comes running. She is wild!!

The retrieve worked fine, but we haven’t come so far yet. I threw it 5 meters and she came back and handed it to me. Next is to get her to walk a bit with it and then come into position.  She still doesn’t want to take it and hold it but we practise a lot at home with the clicker.

The jump… well the easy jump in LK 1 she masters. She also jumps herself and play with the ball on the other side but then I cannot get her to sit . So now I will try to pretend I put the ball (sometimes I will put it) and when she is looking for it I squeeze it and she hears, then I say sit. A challenge! I think she will learn fast as usual, it is I that have to show her what I want.

Down- stay works very well. But none of the other dogs master it so we couldn’t practise that. I will work with Vazy and Aila a lot in Stockholm, because esp Vazy NEVER moves!

Down- stay when walking is difficult. I walk a bit and stop, get her to lie down, continue and then walk back. But the lie down is very slow, so now I will try having her in front of me and play with her to make her  lie down  more quickly.

Walk before me on leash we haven’t started with yet but I am teaching her the command indoors using the target stick. Easy when I have the stick! We will see..

When this course is finished i March we are already signed in to the next level until September. After that we are to start ” lägre spår”, everything already fixed. I will probably try to compete in spring, just to try!

Well, Ami’s energy level had increased to double!! Today she pulled me so I fell and sprained my wrist! And I am walking the rottweiler Hilda  Wednesday and Thursday! My God , luckily my friend Maria is visiting so I will get some help!

Newly trimmed ears!

On Friday we went to Stefan to trim Ami’s ears. The puppyhair is falling off too so now she looks quite lik a different breed. At the competion DSCN4146DSCN4141DSCN4156we may join a naked dog group!

Saturday we met her new friend Hilda, a 9-month-old rottweiler who will walk with us twice a week. They got on very well with  each other and played a lot. On Wednesday we are visiting them where they live. We look forward to this!

Today we were tracking again. I made a longer track this time with an apport and a dropped glove (unintentionally). When we were eating our hot dogs(!!!?) a woman came and told us that she had crossed the track several times and her dogs had eaten the meatballs in the end! So Ami had several tracks to follow, but she was very good and came back all the time to mine and found the apport and a bit of ham in the  end. The woman had put it there! I think she managed very well considering the circumstances.

Then we made area search, which she likes sooo much. But I borrowed a ball with a string and she just marked where it was. She didn’t want to put it in her mouth!! Well, well she found the other stuff though and carried them to my hand. Next time we will work with obedience and go through each dog separatly through all the parts we have practised. Look forward to that! The time after that I will be in Bacelona, (poor me) so I will miss that time.

Tomorrow we will visit another dog. She may join us on walks too, we will see about that!

Tracking

Today was a day in the forest,a really deep forest, beautiful!

We did tracking with the group, Ami did two tracks, the first was straight, but  crossing a road, and the second was with turns. She started straight out and kept at it with speed, both tracks! She was really good! Next week we will put out ¨apporter¨ and make a longer track with two 90 grades turns, exciting! We worked with the wooden retrieve too, and she took it DSCN4048when I threw it a short way and asked her to put it in my hand. That was a big step because she has so far refused to take a grip!

I have evaluated our achivements so far and there is of course a lot to do, but we have also achived a lot. I have to work with my body language, evidently I do a lot of weird stuff when I give commands! This week I will work with heelwalk, down-stay and the jump.

A nice day with nice people today!

Our homepage is published

DSCN4073Åsah has published our new homepage for the kennel. http://www.mayan-kennel.se is the address. Take a look!

The training on Friday went well. Got help with my bodylanguage when giving commands! I move like crazy… Good to get help with that!

Next time is on Sunday this week, but hopefully someone has time to practise daytime during the week, otherwise we will go there by ourselves.

After lunch yesterday we went for a walk in the city center wit the whole family. Ami is crazy walking there, pulls a lot, darting to and fro like crazy! Otherwise she walks very good on leash. Now she also had to hold the family together and look for Joakim.. So today after her rehab we are going again, just 10 minutes walk and we are there.

Walk with Bubba, Ami (lookalikes!!!) and Gunilla

DSCN4114DSCN4116DSCN4121DSCN4123Sunny at last! We had a really nice and dirty walk with Gunilla and her aussie Bubba today. She has a kennel , Applebloom, in Linköping. Very nice both dog and owner!! Afterwards we had tea at the dogcafé, we could even sit outside. The dogs got a nice dogbiscuit themselves!

We are soon going there to meet her and her dogs and work with tracking as well. I look forward to that!

Yesterday we were at the club and trained with Sara and her Alsatian. We started with the jump, I threw the ball and she jumped after it, and then I guided her to jump back. A good first start. Maybe we practised too much because she was very tired afterwards. So next time there will be more breaks!

BK

This weekend has been really nice. Vazy and Aila came and we went together to the club. We were training ¨budföring¨, heelwalking, down-stay and jumping. Ami was good at the ¨sending¨so now I have to  increase the demands and start using command. Vazy and Aila were traing o bit further down so she had enough of disturbance! The hellwalking was a bit so-so.I am going to train her to move her behind and then it will work better I think. Åsa gave me tips how to work with it in front of me. Down-stay is perfect for the stage we are in! She  was laying down for a long time even though people and dogs were around and Vazy and Aila was laying beside her. Really good! The jump went very well too, so well so we have to start training for the appell jump. That means sending her over the jump, making her sit and then jumping back. I am going to use a ball for that. First place it on the other side of the j ump and sending her after it, then throwing the ball to get her to run forward. Then we will go on … Åsa taught me how to make her hold the apport in her mouth, She managed to doDSCN4094 it for a short while. I will practise that every day inside. The weather was lousy but still it was real fun!!

Problems with the Net!

DSCN4101The first pic is from Storön  on one of our walks in the forest. The other is from the appellcourse, tracking this time, and the third shows a bit of my livingroom and Ami of course! We are training a lot now with all kinds of things and she is improving in every way. Everydayobedience is really good, no problems meeting other dogs or people, walking well on leash and without. She is extremely good at finding things, she can stand still on command and her trotting is excellent also. I have not worked with the exhibition leash yet but I will do it soon. We made two tracks in the woods at the course, the first one made her a bit uncertain but the second one was perfect. She loves working.. I will try to write more often when I get the broadband in the end of october.

Her rehab continues and she is more steady now in her whole body, her legs are not shaking and she is gaining weight, hopefully more muscles esp in the front. The best is that we can walk a lot in the beautiful forest here every day.DSCN4106DSCN4113

Pics at last!!

aIMG_3946All these pictures are from AnnLoice! I would really like to have a new camera ( and be able to be a as good as  AnnLoice)! Anyway it has been really nice to have Ami and Vazy together. They play a lot a are very good friends. The first days when Aila was in in heat she was really terrible, I thought that I had lost her!! She never looked at me, her eyes darted back and forth all the time. She had forgotten even the basic rules. But suddenly she was her own self again and even more loveable! We make long walks in the woods twice a day and train for a bit in between. Tomorrow we are going to Luleå and they will stay with Ragnhild and Lasse while I work. Then we go to Umeå to see Karin and Mats and sleep over. Then to Vikarbodarna for a couple of days. and back to Skarpnäck. My car is full of stuff, and it will be an adventurous journey!aIMG_3949aIMG_3934aIMG_3828aIMG_3958aIMG_3816
